Cultural Heartlands of the Thunder Dragon Kingdom

( 9 Nights/10 Days Tour)

Day 1 : Pbh - Paro

The group will be received traditionally at the Paro Airport & introduction of Tour Crew. Stroll leisurely & Paro Bazaar exploration.
Welcome Dinner & Orientation Talk.
Day 2 : Paro Sightseeing - Thimphu

Visit the Drugyel Dzong( a 16th century victory fortress).
Visit Kichu lhakang, one of the oldest & sacred temple in Bhutan(built in the seventh century).
Visit to a  Farmers home.
Visit the Rimpung Dzong built in 1646(the fortress of the heap of jewels).
Vistit the National Museum.

Evening Drive to Thimphu(1:30 mins).                                 
Overnight : Thimphu

Day 3 : Thimphu

Textile museum (Gallery of Bhutanese textiles).
Visit the National memorial chorten (built in memory of the late majesty, the third king).  
Short drive to Sangaygang, Thimphu city view point.
On way back visit the Takin zoo (national animal).
Visit folk heritage museum (exhibit inside a 150 year old traditional house, that connects to rural Bhutan).
Visit Institute of 13 arts and crafts also known as the Painting school, where instructions on the traditional arts and crafts is taught to the students (open on weekdays).
Visit the Zilukha Nunnery (shrine of the god of longetivity).
Visit the weekend market, where every fri,sat and ,sun farmers and traders from across the kingdom come to sell their products viz.vegetables, fruits, handicrafts, rice, cerels, poultry & dairy products etc. This is an ideal place to observe the culinary culture of Bhutan (Subject  to weekends).
Overnight : Thimphu
Day 4 : Thimphu - Gangtey        

Drive to the beautiful Gangtey valley via Dochula. This pass offers  the panoramic view of Bhutan Himalayan ranges.
Refreshments at the Dochula Pass Cafeteria (3,150 mts).
Enroute stop by villages & hamlets.
Visit the Crane Information Center in Gangtey valley.
Overnight : Gangtey
Day 5 : Gangtey - Bumthang

Drive through the Pele-la Pass, another habitat of the yaks.
Break at Sephu Village popular for its bamboo products. This roadside settlement also serves as an outlet for yak dairy products from the high Bhutan Himalayas.
Stop briefly at Chendebji  for refreshments/Lunch.    
Visit the chhume village weaving centres, which specialize in woolen clothes/accessories using natureal dyes and intricated designs. This is a great opportunity to observe traditional weaving and dyeing techniques.                      
Overnight : Bumthang

Day 6 : Bhumthang - Sightseeing

Jambay lhakang(an 8 century temple), dedicated to Maitreya,the Buddha of the future.

Kurjey Monastery(one of the most sacred shrine in Bhutan,according to legend this is the place), where a demon was subdued & where Guru Rinpoche,the founder of Buddhism in Bhutan meditated & brought peace and happiness in the valley.
Visit the Swiss farm(the main occupation of the people in the valley is farming & animal husbandry, most of the farmers come to this farm to sell their  milk here which is manufactured into cottage cheese,swiss cheese , butter etc). Other products such as weiss beer,fruit products & spirits are also manufactured & sold here. 
Tamzhing  Monastery(a private monastery estb. in 1505 AD). Meet monks, lamas there. Butter lamp offering ceremony for group. In the evening, explore Bumthang Bazaar.

Overnight : Bumthang

Day 7 : Bhumthang - Torongsa - Punakha

After breakfast, start forTrongsa and visit the majestic fortress of Trongsa.     
Drive to Punakha via Wangdiphodrang.
Leisurely Stroll in Wangdi market.                                   
Overnight : Punakha
Day 8 : Punakha - Sightseeing - Paro

Visit  Punakha  fortress located between two rivers the Pho chhu and the mo chhu(male and female rivers).

Meet monks & lamas.

Short  walk (rating :easy) to Chimmi lhakang ,a temple dedicated to the divine madman/god of fertility or short hike to the glorious Khamsum Yulay Namgyel Temple  located north of the valley.  
Afternoon /evening drive from Punakha to Paro.

Overnight : Paro

Day 9 : paro

Hiking excursion to the Tigers Nest Monastery one of the most popular spiritual  heritage sites perched on a rock cliff 900 mts above the valley floor.  Hike rating (Moderate) i.e 2 hours on ascent & 1 hour on descent. Lunch at the cafeteria, this place offers a stunning view facing  the tigers nest monastery
Overnight : Paro
Day 10 : Paro - Bkk

We  bid you farewell at the airport, check in 2 hours prior to departure timing for your onward Journey.
